What a view actually does on TikTok

TikTok pushes a clip to a small test audience, watches how they behave, and either widens the
audience or stops. The signal it reads hardest is completion rate — how far through
the video people get — followed by rewatches, shares and comments.

View count is not directly one of those signals. What view count does is social proof:
a clip sitting at 40 views reads as skippable to a human scrolling past, and to anyone who lands on
your profile grid. Views raise the floor of how your work is perceived. They do not tell the algorithm
your video is good.

Completion rate is a ratio. Views are the denominator. If you add 10 000 views to a clip that
